Baby's birthday

My baby is not such a baby anymore! She turned 2 today and I am so thankful that I could spend the whole day with her. I think back to when she was born. I was working as a nanny and I was miserable. When I went back to work, we had to drive 2 hours each day with her facing away from me in her car seat. The little girl I cared for pinched her when I wasn't looking, and generally life was not fun for either one of us.

Now Sophie and I can play together all day, we don't have to leave the house if we don't want to. We can laugh, pretend, read, dance, sing and be our silly selves. And it's all thanks to my online writing career.

So today marks a lot of things for me. It's the beginning of a new era for Sophie, as she moves from being my baby to being my toddler/pre-schooler. It also makes me realize how far we've come. It's bittersweet to know that in just a few weeks she'll go from being my youngest to my middle child. But for now, I'm going to cherish this time when she's the baby.
